Introducing Bella Goss: Creating Space for Connection, Understanding, and Growth

We’re excited to introduce Bella Goss, our newest Pre-Licensed Clinical Intern at Steffen Counseling Services! Bella brings a thoughtful, compassionate approach to therapy, grounded in her background in psychology, her graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her belief that meaningful change begins when we feel safe enough to understand ourselves more deeply.

Bella recognizes that our mental health doesn’t exist in isolation. Our relationships, family experiences, past experiences, and the environments we grow up in all influence how we see ourselves and navigate the world. Sometimes, the challenges we experience today are connected to patterns we learned long ago. Other times, we simply need support making sense of a difficult season of life.

Whatever brings you to therapy, Bella hopes to offer a space where you can show up as you are. Exploring what you’re experiencing, and work toward a greater sense of understanding and connection.

A Foundation in Psychology and Human Connection

Bella earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University.

Her academic and clinical experiences have shaped her understanding of the ways individual well-being and relationships influence one another. She is particularly interested in helping people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and self-awareness.

During her time at the University of Washington, Bella gained experience working with survivors of sexual trauma through psychological research. This experience reinforced the importance of creating spaces where people feel heard, respected, and supported in sharing their experiences at their own pace.

Bella brings that same commitment to her work as a therapist. She understands that opening up can take time, and she strives to meet each person with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their individual experiences.

A Collaborative, Judgment-Free Approach to Therapy

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re unsure what to talk about or what you hope to gain from the experience. Bella wants clients to know that they don’t need to have everything figured out before their first session.

Her approach is collaborative and centered on understanding each person’s unique needs, experiences, and goals. Rather than telling clients what they should or shouldn’t do, Bella works alongside them to explore their perspectives, identify possibilities, and discover approaches that feel right for them.

Two approaches that inform Bella’s work are Solution-Focused Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Solution-Focused Therapy emphasizes strengths, possibilities, and the changes you want to make. Rather than focusing exclusively on what’s wrong, this approach helps you identify what’s already working in your life and build on the resources you have.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) explores the role of emotions, attachment, and connection in our relationships. It can help people recognize recurring relationship patterns, better understand their emotional needs, and develop healthier ways of connecting with others.

Bella is continuing to develop her clinical approach through graduate training and experience. She recognizes that there is no single approach that works for everyone and values remaining open, curious, and responsive to each client’s needs.

Her goal is to help you feel understood while creating opportunities for meaningful, lasting growth.

Supporting You Through Life’s Challenges

Bella works with individuals, couples, and families, supporting teens, young adults, and adults as they navigate a wide range of experiences.

Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, grief and loss, life transitions, emotional regulation, and relationship challenges. She also works with concerns involving communication, family conflict, shame, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and the effects of trauma across generations.

With individuals, therapy can provide an opportunity to understand difficult emotions, recognize unhelpful patterns, and develop new ways of coping with everyday challenges.

In couples work, it can create space to improve communication, better understand one another’s emotional needs, and work through recurring conflicts with greater compassion.

For families, therapy can help members explore relationship dynamics, navigate conflict, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.

Bella is also interested in how experiences from earlier generations can influence our beliefs, relationships, and sense of self. Understanding these connections can help people recognize which patterns they want to change and begin creating new ways of relating to themselves and others.

No matter what challenges you’re facing, Bella aims to meet you where you are and work together toward the changes that matter to you.
