Adult Autism Evaluations in Seattle
If you’ve ever wondered whether autism could explain experiences you’ve had throughout your life, you’re not alone. Many adults discover they are autistic later in life after years of feeling different, misunderstood, or overlooked.
At Steffen Counseling Services, we’re committed to making the diagnostic process more accessible, respectful, and affirming.
Adult Autism Assessments Designed with Neurodiversity in Mind
Seeking an autism evaluation as an adult can feel overwhelming. Many people worry about being misunderstood or judged during the assessment process. Steffen Counseling Service’s approach is rooted in neurodiversity-affirming care, creating a supportive environment where your lived experiences are respected and valued.
The goal of the evaluation is not to “label” you. It is to help you better understand yourself, identify your strengths and challenges, and provide meaningful recommendations for moving forward. Our goal is to translate your experiences into clear, compassionate language that can be understood by legal professionals who may not specialize in mental health.
Who This Service Is For?
This service is for adults ages 18 and older who want clarity about whether autism may help explain lifelong experiences, patterns, or challenges.
It may be a good fit if you have:
Wondered for years whether you might be autistic
Felt different, misunderstood, or overlooked
Experienced sensory sensitivity, burnout, or masking
Struggled with communication, relationships, or social expectations
Been diagnosed with something else in the past but still felt like the explanation was incomplete
Whether you are just beginning to explore the possibility of autism or you have been researching it for a long time, this evaluation is designed to meet you where you are.
What to Expect During an Adult Autism Evaluation
The comprehensive evaluation includes:
A 90-minute assessment interview, which can be completed as one session or split into two 45-minute appointments if preferred
A comprehensive written assessment report
A 50-minute feedback session to review findings and answer questions
Our goal is for you to leave the process with greater clarity, validation, and practical next steps.
What’s Included in the Report
Following your evaluation, you’ll receive a detailed written report that includes:
A summary of the assessment findings
Any applicable diagnoses
An explanation of how the diagnosis may impact your daily life
Personalized treatment recommendations
Recommendations for workplace or educational accommodations, when appropriate
Helpful resources for continued support and learning
This report is designed to be practical, not just diagnostic. It can help you better understand yourself and give you language for advocacy, support, and next steps.
Meet Your Evaluator: Alyse Bradway
Alyse has been working with neurodivergent individuals and couples since 2020 and is credentialed in autism assessment and treatment through The Chicago School.
As someone who was also diagnosed as neurodivergent in adulthood, Alyse understands firsthand how meaningful an accurate, compassionate assessment can be. This personal perspective fuels her passion for providing more accessible adult autism evaluations and ensuring clients feel heard, respected, and affirmed throughout the process.
Every evaluation is approached with curiosity, compassion, and an understanding that there is no one “right” way to experience autism.

Evaluation Cost and Details
We recognize that an adult autism evaluation is a meaningful investment, and we aim to be transparent about what is included in the process. Our fee reflects the time involved in the clinical interview, thoughtful review of your history and relevant information, interpretation of assessment findings, preparation of a detailed written report, and the feedback session where results are reviewed with you.
Our standard fee for an adult autism evaluation is $950.
Additional requests outside the scope of the standard evaluation, such as extra consultation or supplemental letters may be billed separately.
Because adult autism evaluations are considered a specialty assessment service rather than ongoing medically necessary treatment, they are private pay only and insurance billing is not available. This allows us to keep the process direct and transparent from the start.
If you have questions about scheduling, payment, or whether this evaluation is the right fit for your needs, our team is happy to help.
