Clinical Intern Counseling
Low-Cost, Sliding Scale Therapy
Discounted Therapy offered by Master’s Level Students
We are excited to offer our clients reduced rate therapy sessions facilitated by our clinical interns. You can use this page to familiarize yourself with our intern therapists, and to schedule a free consultation.
$60-$75 per session, Pay What You Can:
Individual, couples, and family therapist sessions are sliding scale, pay what you can based on your current financial situation- we do not require financial screening or proof of income. Many of our clients have insurance, but have a high deductible, or can’t get coverage for couples therapy. The typical cost for therapy is $130-$200 per session, which can be prohibitively expensive.
Individual, Couples, & Family Therapy
Couples Therapy
Individual Therapy
Therapy creates a space for you to experience healing and progress in a way that can dramatically change your life. Making time for your own personal therapy is not only self-care, it’s essential for many people. Therapy is becoming more and more common, and accessible. Whether you want short or long-term work, our providers are excited to help you live the best version of your life.
Adolescent Therapy
It can be extremely difficult to find a therapist for clients under 18. Our interns see kids as young as 10 years old, and have experience working with children in a variety of capacities- we currently have a registered nurse, a former music teacher, and more. Our therapists have the added benefit of being young in their careers, which is important for kids and teens who need to connect with their provider in a different way than adult clients do.
Family Therapy
Family Counseling is appropriate not only for families in crisis, but also for families who want to increase their ability to communicate effectively, and enhance their relationships. For families who are in different locations, our telehealth counseling can make this treatment more accessible than ever before.
Why See an Intern?
Many people need or want therapy, but can’t afford the high rates that most therapist charge. Others just need to schedule sessions outside of work or school hours. Our internship program makes mental healthcare more accessible to all members of the community. It also provides mentorship and supervision for the next generation of therapists. Student therapists need 100s of clinical internship hours to complete their degree. By partnering together, we are able to provide therapy services that benefit both the students and our community.
Benefits of Seeing an Intern:
Don’t let their title fool you- interns have the benefit of receiving the latest and greatest education and training in the field of therapy, and typically receive 4-5 hours of supervision per week. They are not burned out, overworked clinicians, working in isolation- they are supported in their work and are very motivated to help their clients. Scheduling a consultation with one of our interns allows you to have a 10-15 minute conversation with them to make sure they are a good match for your needs.
Interns are supervised individually by Brittany Steffen, MS, LMFT, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and WA State Approved Supervisor. She meets with each intern on a weekly basis to consult, supervise, and support each intern’s clinical work. Interns also meet weekly for group supervision with their professors, who are licensed therapists.
Interns cannot bill insurance for therapy sessions, but you may be able to get reimbursed for out of network therapy through your insurance. Intern sessions cost between $60-$75 per session, for individual, couples, and family therapy, and are 50 minutes long. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, every other week, or monthly, with reoccurring spots available Sunday through Friday. Our interns see clients as early as 7:00 am and as late as 9:00 pm, and have immediate openings.
