PREPARE/ENRICH Group for Couples at Steffen Counseling Services

Make Your Marriage Unbreakable

Planning a wedding is exciting, but preparing for marriage is about much more than choosing a venue or writing vows. Premarital therapy gives couples a chance to strengthen their relationship before marriage by building communication skills, exploring shared values, and talking through the topics that matter most in long-term partnerships.

At Steffen Counseling Services, we’re offering a PREPARE/ENRICH premarital therapy group in Seattle. Led by two of our clinical interns, Sage Robins and Alefia Delhiwala, this virtual small-group experience is designed to help couples deepen their connection, learn practical relationship skills, and prepare for a strong marriage.

What is Premarital Therapy?

Premarital therapy, sometimes called premarital counseling, is a form of relationship support that helps couples prepare for marriage. It creates space to talk through important areas such as communication, conflict resolution, finances, family expectations, intimacy, and future goals.

Rather than waiting until problems become bigger, premarital counseling helps couples become proactive. It gives partners a chance to understand each other better and build tools they can use throughout marriage. For many couples, it is one of the most meaningful steps they can take before saying “I do.”

Benefits of Premarital Counseling

Premarital counseling can help couples feel more confident and connected as they enter marriage. One of the biggest benefits is learning how to communicate more effectively, especially during moments of stress or disagreement. Couples also have the opportunity to talk about practical topics that can affect daily life later on, such as money, household roles, and family planning.

Other benefits of premarital therapy include:

  • Stronger communication skills.

  • Better conflict resolution.

  • Greater emotional awareness.

  • More realistic expectations about marriage.

  • A stronger foundation for long-term relationship satisfaction.

For couples who want to feel more prepared for marriage, premarital therapy offers a structured and supportive way to invest in the relationship early.

Why Choose Group Premarital Therapy?

Group premarital therapy offers many of the same benefits as traditional couples counseling, with the added value of shared learning. In a group setting, couples can practice new skills with their own partner while also hearing from other couples who are navigating similar questions and conversations.

This can make the experience feel more relatable, encouraging, and collaborative. Many couples appreciate the chance to learn from others while still receiving guided support. Group work can also help normalize the fact that even strong relationships require intention, communication, and practice.

For couples searching for premarital counseling in Seattle or virtual premarital therapy in Washington state, group-based PREPARE/ENRICH offers an accessible and meaningful option.
