What kind of therapist am I?
I view therapy as a collaborative way for anyone who feels stuck to create changes in their life. Therapy will help you examine your beliefs, assumptions, values, goals, thought patterns, and relationships. Talking problems through with a nonjudgmental, neutral third party can inspire a new perspective. My style is conversational, and my clients report that they appreciate my active approach to therapy. I enjoy working with clients on goal-oriented changes, and utilize out of session homework to maximize the impact of therapy.
I work with individuals, couples and families dealing with difficult relationships, anxiety/depression, stress, self-esteem, LGBTQ issues, transitions, career issues, & issues impacting sexuality. I have extensive training in sex therapy and work with individuals and couples in this area.
In addition to working as a therapist, I also teach "Gender Perspectives in Family Therapy", and "Systems Treatment of LGBTQ Youth and Families", at a local university, and provide training for local companies. To learn more about my work experience, please check out my LinkedIn profile.
